Part-Time Project Archivist

職務說明Job Description:

Logos Evangelical Seminary invites applications for a Part‑Time Project Archivist to help establish a new archive center for the Chinese Christian Heritage Archive & Research Center (CCHARC). This position is responsible for the proper stewardship, processing, preservation, and access of historical materials. The Project Archivist will lead the implementation of archival standards, supervise processing workflows, conduct preliminary assessment and classification of donated items, and support research services—playing a key role in building a new archival program at the Seminary.

職責Responsibilities:

1. Preparation & Initial Assessment

  • Conduct preliminary assessment, appraisal, and classification of donated and legacy materials to understand collection scope and condition.
  • Identify preservation needs and processing priorities, including high‑risk or fragile items requiring immediate attention.
  • Rehouse materials using archival‑quality supplies to ensure basic physical protection from the start.

2. Developing Standards & Foundational Documentation

  • Develop and implement archival processing standards for arrangement, description, and long‑term care.
  • Create foundational documentation, including processing plans, accession records, descriptive metadata, and internal workflow guides.
  • Prepare materials for digitization, ensuring consistent file naming, metadata, and selection criteria.

3. Building Access, Policies & Research Support

  • Draft core policies and procedures for researcher access, reproduction requests, reading room use, and handling protocols.
  • Support research services, including reference assistance, preparing materials for exhibitions, and contributing to outreach and academic engagement.

4. Training & Workflow Management

  • Train and guide student assistants or interns in archival handling, rehousing, data entry, scanning, and description.
  • Establish clear processing workflows and quality‑control procedures to ensure consistency and sustainability.

5. Establishing the New Archive Center

  • Develop the operational framework for the new archive center, including foundational practices, long‑term preservation planning, and scalable workflows.
  • Collaborate with library leadership to shape the archive’s structure, growth strategies, and integration within the Seminary’s academic mission.
  • Play a key role in launching a brand‑new archival program, ensuring responsible stewardship and accessible discovery of historical materials.

      資格Qualifications:

      • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) with an archives concentration (or equivalent).
      • Experience working with manuscript collections, rare books, or historical archives.
      • Familiarity with Chinese‑language materials strongly preferred.
      • Knowledge of archival metadata standards (DACS, Dublin Core, MARC).
      • Ability to train and supervise student workers.
      • Strong organizational and project‑management skills.
