Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Teach 2 to 3 courses per semester in both Chinese and English as assigned by seminary: Prepare and deliver lectures to Th.M., M.Div. and Ph.D. program students in subjects of systematic theology, including but not limited to eschatology, Christology, ecclesiology, pneumatology, bibliology, soteriology, hamartiology, contemporary Christian movement and theology, and reformation history, such as religious epistemology, religion and science, and philosophical reflection on theism, and American enlightenment.
  • Grade students’ class work, assignments, and papers.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions in a multilingual and multicultural environment, which are suitable for simultaneous in-person and remote class settings.
  • Prepare teaching materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts in Chinese and English.
  • Coordinate with coworking faculty to teach in the co-host courses, and in preparation of the teaching materials.
  • Mentoring Th.M. and Ph.D. students in preparation of thesis, dissertation and defense, particularly in research methodology and academic integrity rules.
  • Participate in the seminary’s Wednesday worship, and other seminary outreach activities in promoting the seminary.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade examinations.
  • Routinely participate in staff meetings and perform regular administrative tasks that are ordinary and incidental to a seminary faculty member.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ph.D. or Th.D. in Theology or Theological Studies, or a foreign degree equivalent, 48 months of full-time pastoral experience, and Mandarin Chinese language skill.

TRAVEL DETAILS:

  • Visit other Christian churches in the U.S. about twice a year for less than one week to promote the seminary.

SALARY:

  • $80,600 to $81,100 per year.

HOURS:

  • 40 hours per week.
